THE GEMSTONE
The January birthstone, vivid red Garnet is named from the Latin word “Garanatus,” meaning “seedlike” likely in reference to cherry-red pomegranate seeds.
It is a stunning, opulent and hard-wearing stone, sourced in Mozambique.
Well known for its symbolism of love and friendship, the depth and intensity of red garnet exemplifies hope, empowerment and passion. The Persians treasured this deep-red stone as a protector from the forces of nature and believed in its ability to predict imminent danger by turning pale.
